Beginning and maintaining a therapeutic relationship can be challenging when there are active trauma symptoms. Being able to establish a sense of safety with parents, explain the treatment, and to have them be an active participant in the child's recovery, is a vital aspect of relationship-based therapies. In this video, I share how I conduct the first few sessions with caregivers and children when I am working a child who experienced trauma.
